How does Viamigo work?

STEP 1: PRACTICE ROUTE

leerroute

The Viamigo-user explores the routes that he frequently executes such as trips to the supermarket, outpatients’ clinic, to friends or family. A personal coach repeatedly guides him until the user can make the trip independently.

STEP 2: COACH REGISTERS ROUTE

register

The coach creates the routes in the webinterface of Viamigo and ascribes further details to the specific route. He indicates points of interests (e.g. point of departure, destination, intermediate via points), identifies safe and dangerous routes and defines the transport mode for each (segment of the) route. The coach also predefines the notifications (e.g. warning when the user deviates 100m from route or stands still longer than 10 min).

STEP 3: SELECT ROUTE

selectBefore leaving, the user selects in the application the trip he wants to make. The coach receives a signal, when the user selects a route on his smartphone and thus wants to leave.

STEP 4: WAIT FOR APPROVAL

go

The coach can whether confirm or reject the trip. When he chooses to confirm this trip, a thumbs up appears on the smartphone display accompanied with the message: “OK! You can leave”. When he rejects, a warning symbol appears on the smartphone display accompanied with the message: “There is no coach available. Do not leave!”. A community of coaches – several coaches coming from the user’s immediate surroundings – are ready to intervene. It is rather exceptional that no single coach can supervise the user. The coaches come from the user’s immediate surroundings.

STEP 5: START YOUR TRIP

homeUsing the GPS-coordinates of the smartphone, the coach can track the user in real-time and – if necessary – take action. He can, for example, shepherd the user through the situation by calling or texting him.
